This piece is grounded—both literally and visually—in nature, with birchwood serving as the canvas and conceptual foundation. The artwork’s layered, earth-toned forms echo the grain and subtle textures of the wood beneath, allowing the natural surface to interact with the composition rather than simply support it. Hues of soft taupe, deep mud, muted ochre, and stone gray blend seamlessly with the birchwood’s inherent warmth, creating a sense of cohesion between image and material. The semi-translucent shapes and organic textures mimic the peeling surfaces and striations of bark, while fiber-like detailing suggests the presence of linen or natural plant matter.
